Converting a Garage

Let’s Start Converting a Garage

We make the process of converting a garage as quick, easy and painless as possible.  The first step is deciding what you want your new space to be.  The most popular conversions are bedrooms with a small bathroom, a home office, a playroom or man cave, an open plan kitchen or a spare reception room.  However, the limit is your imagination.  We’ve created home cinemas, music and art studios, an indoor hot tub room and a dance studio.  You let us know what you want and we’ll tell you how.

The Process

Once you have called us we will visit your home to carry out a free, no obligation survey. During this meeting you will be able to discuss all your requirements for converting your garage and ask any questions. We can use our experience to offer suggestions on how to achieve your goals.

Planning Permission

It’s extremely rare that planning permission is required to convert your garage. This is often the advantage of a conversion over an extension.  However, we will be able to advise if this is the case and help you through the process.

Building Control

You will need Building Control approval to convert your garage but that’s no problem.  We take care of the whole thing and it’s all included in the price quoted.  First we make the initial application on your behalf. We arrange site visits with the building control officer and ensure the final certification is completed. We’ll send the certification through to you at the end of the project.  On the very rare occasion they ask for alterations to the work, this is of course included in the price. We never leave a site until everyone is happy.

Onsite

Once we agree to work together we arrange a start date. All we ask is that the space is nice and clear (no bags of cement or old bikes!) and we get cracking. We match the bricks, collect materials and strip back anything that needs removing. Then we’re ready to insulate, brick up, pull cabling and plumbing in and create walls, ceilings and floors. You’ll be surprised at how quickly it all comes together. Having converted nearly 300 garages, our team work week in, week out, on similar projects so we’ve got it down to a fine art. There’s very little mess as we are generally enclosed in the garage. Even when there’s a wall or doorway to knock through we always make sure we minimise disruption to you and your family – we know life goes on around us. We usually convert in 2 to 3 weeks but we will always let you know the timescales before we start. We never leave a project before it’s completely finished.

Aftercare

We’re always on the end of a phone if you need any help or advice after we’ve finished. Whether it’s a washer needs tightening or you can’t work out how to use the light control panel, we’re always there for you. We’ll come and see you if you need us, as soon as we can. You never need to worry about giving us a call. We want you to love your new space.
